“Its The Little Things In Life”
Nefarious Interiors, no project is too big or too small. In fact, some of the smallest and most overlooked spaces can offer the biggest opportunity to create something really special.For this Central London project, we were asked to transform three often-forgotten areas of the home: a compact cloakroom, a micro-pantry and an underused roof terrace. The brief was simple ,to create maximum impact and practicality within a very limited footprint. Each space needed to work hard, but we didn’t want practicality to come at the expense of personality. Through clever storage, considered layouts, bold finishes and plenty of character, we turned these small spaces into memorable moments within the home, proving that even the most modest of rooms can be both functional and full of personality. Sometimes it’s the spaces you least expect that end up becoming the ones you love the most.
Below:For the cloakroom, we wanted to embrace the small footprint rather than fight against it, using pattern and colour to give the space a strong sense of identity. The wallpaper wraps across the walls and concealed doors, helping to blur the boundaries of the room while cleverly disguising access to the utility area beyond. Deep green joinery grounds the scheme and provides essential storage, while the pale stone worktop, sculptural basin and warm brass details add a more refined layer. Finished with the scalloped timber mirror, the result is a tiny room that feels considered, playful and full of character, proving that even the most practical spaces can still deliver a real design moment.
Below:For the micro-pantry, every centimetre needed to earn its place. Tucked into a compact alcove, we designed a simple but hardworking layout that combines closed storage, open shelving and traditional wicker produce baskets, all within a very small footprint. The warm ochre joinery gives the pantry its own identity and brings a cheerful hit of colour, while the pale stone worktop and upstand keep the space feeling light and refined. Open shelves above provide easy access to everyday ingredients and display pieces, with curved brackets adding a softer, more decorative detail. It’s a tiny space, but one that proves practical storage doesn’t need to feel purely utilitarian, it can still have warmth, charm and plenty of personality.
Above: For the roof terrace, the aim was to turn a previously forgotten outdoor space into a proper extension of the home , somewhere to sit, entertain and enjoy the London skyline. We introduced a strong geometric tiled floor to give the terrace instant character, layering it with warm timber furniture, soft neutral upholstery and plenty of planting to stop the space from feeling too hard or exposed. A built-in bench makes use of the perimeter and provides additional seating without overcrowding the footprint, while the oversized parasol creates a sense of shelter and makes the terrace feel more like an outdoor room. The result is a relaxed but considered space that feels private, practical and full of personalitym a small urban retreat above the city.
