COUNTRY HOUSE, Buckinghamshire

“Contrast, pattern and light focused.”

Inspired by one of our client’s favourite hotels, Heckfield Place, we wanted to create a calming atmosphere throughout the house. We used soft and subtle paint colours which place focus and importance on the artwork and beautiful furniture - some of which we sourced or had made bespoke, and some of which our clients already owned.

Above & Below: The orangery was where we started with this project, and we wanted the space to feel usable in both summer and winter, with a sense of calm and restfulness. We designed a bespoke joinery unit inspired by antique kitchen settles with a side wave detail and mug pegs painted in a deep reddish brown as the real hero piece of the design.

Below: The main entrance was used as the previous owner as a snug, however we wanted to reinstate it to its original function. So we decided to keep the walls neutral and welcoming to lighten up the space, with feature hunting scene wallpaper. A bespoke niche seat with wall lights and gloss green joinery sets the tone for the rest of the house.
