A FAMILY OASIS, Central London
“A Home To Make Memories”
Nestled on the bustling market street of Portobello Road in central London, our family townhouse project began as a home in disrepair. When first approached by our clients, the property featured an unsafe spiral staircase, a bold blue-and-pink colour scheme throughout, and open-plan living on every floor. Our challenge was to transform it into a home that could grow and evolve with the family through every stage of life. Drawing inspiration from the character of the local neighbourhood, we sought to weave in subtle moments of discovery—like finding a hidden gem on Portobello Road—while ensuring the house remained a serene oasis, offering calm and comfort after a busy day at work or school.

A custom-built wardrobe provides organised storage for coats and jackets, with warm wood accents and subtle integrated lighting. Open shelving with woven baskets offers additional space for everyday essentials, while a cushioned bench with cubby storage beneath creates a welcoming spot to sit and remove shoes. Framed by tall sash windows, the space feels both functional and inviting, balancing clever design with a calm, timeless aesthetic.

Soft blue cabinetry with brass hardware anchors the space, complemented by a marble-look worktop and a central island perfect for family gatherings. Natural textures—such as the wooden stools with patterned upholstery and rich oak flooring—add warmth and character. A patterned roman blind and eclectic artwork introduce personality, while thoughtful details like a built-in wine cooler and open display shelves balance practicality with style.
